The law regulating Intellectual Property in Cameroon is the Bangui Accord of 02/ 0301977 as amended on the 24/02/1999. This law is essentially an agreement between 16 African states. The scope of this law is not limited to Intellectual Property Rights such as Patents, Utility Models, Trademarks, Service Marks industrial models/designs, trade names, geographical indications and appellations of origin, literary and artistic property, protection against unfair competition, topographies of integrated circuits and protection of plant varieties. These law further searches of identity, renewals of rights and extension of coverage to and from new adherents to the organization. Of great importance is the principle of Anteriority in OAPI (African Intellectual Property Organisation) first to file and not first to use which is applicable to all member states
With regards to media and entertainment in Cameroon, there is no particular law governing this field but rather takes in to consideration principles like Intellectual Property, Contract, tax, Securities, Business Association and Labour arrangement.
